During these four-day Institutes, course development teams of six to 10 educators collaborate on the design of innovative model courses that integrate career technical education (CTE) with academic (“a-g”) subjects; each team drafts one course.

UCCI Institute courses are designed to be academically rigorous as well as relevant to real-world experience in ways that keep students engaged in learning and prepare them for success in college and career. Once approved, these courses are given UCCI program status and can be found on the UC course list website for any California high school to implement.

Each UCCI Institute focuses on teams of educators creating one course outline per team that combines one CTE industry sector and one “a-g” subject area. The Institute topics for Summer 2012 are:
   • Health Science and Medical Technology with history/social science (“a”). Learn more.
   • Information and Communication Technologies with mathematics (“c”). Learn more.

The deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m. June 4. Apply online at www.ucop.edu/ucci.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to secure approval from their supervisors before applying. Attendance, meals and lodging (though not travel costs) are paid for by the University with the assistance of a grant from the California Department of Education.
