Conducting a Value Added Analysis
This presentation, entitled "Comparing Growth in Student Performance", discusses why “value added” is the most valid way to compare academy students’ progress with other students in same school and grade. (Please click the link on right to download the PowerPoint file.)
The presentation also defines "value added" in this context, describes how to compute it, and offers examples of its application to career academies.
Note that statistical software (e.g., SPSS/ PASW, or Stata) is needed for such an analysis.
