This course is provided by NAF as a second-semester extension to our AOHT course, Delivering Great Customer Service. This course is designed to prepare students to pass the National Retail Federation Foundation's Professional Certification in Customer Service exam. Many of the NAF Hospitality and Tourism Academies in Florida currently use the NRF Foundation's exam, so other Academies may find this useful for their students. Please be aware that the NRF Foundation requires students to be in eleventh grade before taking the National Professional Certification in Customer Service exam.

In this project, students have the opportunity to participate in a local community revitalization effort by developing a walking tour throughout town. Working in teams of four, students identify community landmarks that should be included on the walking tour, research history surrounding those landmarks using primary and secondary resources, and communicate their findings by writing and recording a narrative that will guide the tour. Additionally, students will create a map on which landmarks will be identified and design an appropriate sign or marker to identify the stops along the tour. Each team will present its plan for a walking tour to members of the Community Revitalization Committee; one team's plan will be selected for implementation.

The introductory activity involves writing a formal letter (in Spanish) to the embassy as if they were attending the Olympics and had to think about the impact of pollution on their performance. In the second assignment, they learn about the geography and economy of the focal countries, but then they choose a country and write letters asking for information on the topic. Students then research different types of pollution, before they focus on their country to understand how climate change impacts culture -- the essential question of this project.
